For the fitness equipment industry in general it has been a tough year, with most manufacturers reporting decreased sales. Many have not realized that more and more individuals prefer shopping from home. InternetFitness.com was the first to sell fitness online. Since 1996, they have steadily built their market share. In 1998 they release their Smooth line of treadmills, sold only online and factory direct. During that short time the Smooth name has become one the most recognizable and search after brands on the Internet.
