An Integral Part of My Workout

"This Polar heart rate monitor was the first one I've ever used. I had just purchased the P90X DVD series, and they recommended getting a heart rate monitor to use during workouts. I've been using my Polar monitor for about a month and a half now, and I don't do a workout without it! Using a heart rate monitor really opened my eyes to see just how many calories I was (or wasn’t!) burning with each workout. The watch is simple and easy to use. It walks you through all the initial set-up steps to enter height, weight, age, etc. I find it very motivating to see my workout stats. At the end of each workout, you can scroll through a list that shows lowest heart rate, highest heart rate, calories burned, % fat burned, and time in the fitness (higher intensity) and fat burn zones (lower intensity). It pushes me harder and makes me do a little extra each time to make sure I hit my goals. The watch is very lightweight and comfortable to wear. I found it's important to make sure the adjustable chest strap is snug against the chest to ensure an accurate reading. Also make sure the sensors on the strap are fully moistened, or you could also lose your pulse. To help extend the battery life, I make sure to disconnect the chest strap sensor at the end of each workout. The entire watch can be submerged in water, so you can wear it to swim. At the end of each week, I just toss the chest strap (without the sensor attached) in a laundry bag and wash it. I really like all the tracking features on the watch. It's nice to have records of all my past workouts to measure my progress each week. The monitor really helps keep me accountable to keeping up with my regular workout schedule. If I miss a workout or slack off, my watch will tell me so! I think I'm going to purchase the Flowlink accessory next, so I can download workouts off my watch, so I can continually track data over a longer period of time."
