Don’t Let the Cold Weather Hold Back Your Fitness Goals

Fitness Magazine wrote a short article on the fitness blues a few weeks back. In it they touched on a few tips for keeping up your fitness when the weather turns, including doing it for yourself, and staying consistent. While the article focuses on two extreme runners who love running outside (in Alaska) the reality is that many of us hate the cold weather. While we’re still in first month of the year, it’s safe to say there is probably a correlation between cold weather and the downfall of people’s new year’s resolutions. (more…)

Versatile Interval Training Creates a Complete Body Workout

Last week, I outlined an introduction to safe and effective interval training, including a basic interval program.

This week, I‘d like to provide tips on a more advanced type of interval training.  Similar to how I train my private clients, this approach incorporates resistance training with an interval program to create a full-body express workout.  With the inclusion of resistance training intervals, you have a complete aerobic, anaerobic and muscle toning workout.

Smooth Fitness teams with Mamavation to change the lives of two moms

This past October, the Smooth Fitness team came across a blog that had set out on a bold mission to help change the lives of two deserving mothers – Mamavation.com.  The idea was simple: Give two moms the opportunity to change their lives together by entering into a 7-week healthy living boot camp that provides them with the tools and support they need to succeed all while sharing their journey with the Mamavation community.
