Learning about the equipment can help to make decisions a little easier, so here are some tips that can help you along the purchase process.

Best Home Fitness Equipment: What Do You Need

The best home fitness equipment is going to vary on goals, but there are some that almost everyone has. Some of the best and most popular units include:

  • Exercise bikes
  • Treadmills
  • Ellipticals

While you don’t need all three, it can be advantageous if you have the space and budget. This is because they are all cardio machines but they work different muscle groups in different ways. Muscle confusion is a great thing to help reach goals and when you perform cardio on different machines, this is achieved.

When shopping for equipment, you want to look at reviews to see what others have to say. Don’t spend money on equipment unless it is well-made and is going to help to achieve fitness goals. When reviews are not available or positive, a different piece of equipment should be considered.

Best Home Fitness Equipment: Purchase Process

The process of shopping for the best home fitness equipment is important. You have to decide what you want and this is going to require you to identify your goals, your budget, as well as how much space is available within your home. Don’t assume that you don’t have room for equipment, some of the best treadmills and ellipticals can fold.

If you don’t have a lot of room, explore some of the collapsible treadmills. Some of the equipment can even be stored outside, allowing you to place equipment under a covered patio or in a garage without damaging it in any way.

Read the features of the equipment to help you shop for pieces that you can use regardless of your space and then find one that works within your budget.

Best Home Fitness Equipment: Building A Home Gym

If you desire a home gym, it’s a great goal to work toward. There is no rule that says all equipment has to be purchased at once. You may decide to start with some of the heavier equipment and then every few months, add something else. This can include free weights, training benches, steps and various other things.

What goes into the gym is going to vary based upon goals. Weight loss, strength training, and overall fitness maintenance can require different activities. While cardio is a given for all of the goals, the other equipment will vary based upon what you actually want to do with your body.

You can find someone to talk to about what needs to go into your gym and you can avoid spending money on equipment that is not needed. Whether you need a single piece of equipment or a full gym, there are options available to you. Explore the market to see what is out there so you can begin building the area that you need to get into shape and keep the figure that you want.

Collapsible Treadmills

The quality of collapsible treadmills today rivals that of a standard model treadmill. They offer a solution for those who live in an apartment or have limited space in a home gym. These machines are extremely popular because of their ability to save the space that a standard treadmill might use.

These folding treadmills feature assist mechanisms that make folding and unfolding much easier. They share many of the characteristics of stationary machines, but are much lighter and smaller. The top rated new collapsible treadmills rival their larger counterparts. They offer consumers the option of owning a quality machine that is reliable, portable and easily stored out of sight.

Stability

Stability is not a problem with top rated new collapsible treadmill models. They are well constructed with a high-quality steel frame that provides a stable surface. Runners require a machine that does not wobble or make creaking sounds when they are working out.

Motorized models provide power for the machine and allow them to run training programs through an electronic interface. It enables the user to set and maintain speeds, which is not possible with a manual folding treadmill. The top rated machines have motors that range from at least 2-horsepower up to 3-horsepower or more. The newer versions weigh more and are designed to accommodate greater user weight.

Features

Collapsible treadmills are the most compact on the market in terms of size and weight, making them easy to move from room to room. They feature an exclusive assist mechanism that makes folding quick and easy. Most carry a two to three year warranty that covers major moving parts and one for labor. The prices of new collapsible treadmills range from about $500 to $1,000 for models designed to be used primarily as a walking treadmill. Those who intend to use them for running may pay more for extra features such as a wider and longer running deck.

Characteristics

New collapsible treadmills offer extra features that appeal to customers. They are more spacious and provide more weight support. They provide a multicolored LCD panel that tracks speed, distance, calories and time. They rival those found on standard treadmill models. It is easy to program incline levels and set the desired speed. They also offer a variety of exercise programs. These extras help users achieve maximum health and fitness goals.

Advantages

Investing in one of the new collapsible treadmills allows users to get a great workout at home without the hassle of having to join a gym or fitness center. One drawback to owning a standard treadmill is that it takes up much valuable living space in a small house or apartment. Because regular exercise is so important for staying healthy, owning a collapsible treadmill is a great investment. Owning a collapsible treadmill helps those who are determined to improve their health meet their goals. It is no longer necessary to leave home to enjoy the benefits of exercise that strengthens the body and contributes to overall well-being.

Collapsable Treadmill Reviews

Collapsible treadmill reviews help shoppers find the best treadmill for home use. Reading product reviews is the best way to determine customer satisfaction. Reviews can also reveal any issues that purchasers may have experienced with a particular product or brand. Before deciding to purchase a treadmill, the prospective buyer should have a good idea of how the product will be used. Consulting a reliable review source can help narrow down a list of possible manufacturers and brand names prior to shopping.

Features

A collapsible treadmill review is important when thinking about the features associated with a machine. If basic walking or running is the objective, an individual might just want to purchase a machine with the basic features and programs. Anyone desiring more of a challenging exercise workout might prefer a standard treadmill instead of a collapsible one because stability. Both types feature a console that enables the user to control the workout. Safety is an important factor that is built into the best home treadmills. Having a security lock feature that holds the treadmill in place after it is folded away is one of the most important features of moveable treadmills. Lifting and dropping systems give the portable treadmill more control when raising and lowering the deck.

Performance

Folding treadmills are available with several different horsepower motors. The 3.0-horsepower motor is more appropriate for active runner who runs several times a week for a period of at least forty-five minutes. Those with a less intense program can benefit from a machine with a 2.0-horsepower motor. Collapsible treadmills are equipped with decline capability that helps strengthen different muscles during a routine exercise session.

Advantages

Collapsible treadmill reviews point out the advantages of these portable machines. They can provide as effective a workout at home as a standard treadmill. They are user-friendly and extremely simple to operate. Even though they are lighter weight than the standard models, they are designed to provide a regular stride length and minimize jerks. They are much more versatile than the standard models.

Disadvantages

One significant disadvantage associated with collapsible treadmills is their lowered level of stability in some instances. The folding frame design of the unit that makes them easier to fold and store is also responsible for their limited stability.

Considerations

If space is an issue when buying equipment for a home gym, collapsible treadmills offer a solution. Collapsible treadmill reviews indicate that these space-saving treadmills are perfect for smaller living spaces such as apartments. Many of the same features found in standard treadmills are available in the collapsible models. Many recommended models offer the combination of great performance at a reasonable price.

Reasons to Utilize Collapsible Treadmill Reviews

Reading product reviews allows a prospective buyer to go beyond just specifications and prices. User reviews give buyers the opportunity to compare models and features. Honest, objective reviews offer a quick summary of pros and cons by those who have used the products and help buyers make the most informed purchase.

Most Economical Elliptical Workout Machine

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2014

Elliptical Workout Machine

The elliptical workout machine provides a unique device for strengthening the heart and adding years to life. It also increases body strength and contributes to a body’s overall well-being. It provides a more efficient cardiovascular workout that also assists with weight loss. It is more efficient than a treadmill because it includes simultaneous leg and arm motion. Even though it requires less exertion than treadmills or stair steppers, it benefits calorie burn and is less harsh on joints.

Benefits of an Economical Elliptical Workout Machine

Because elliptical trainers can retail for as much as $10,000, many people consider them to be out of range for their budgets. These high-quality machines are equipped with many features that most people find convenient, but unnecessary. There are more economical elliptical workout machines available that are durable and perform just as well.

The most economical elliptical machine costs just over one hundred dollars. It boasts many of the same features associated with the high-priced machine. It is possible to get one with a five-function console. It is made of half-inch gauge steel with extra-wide non-slip platforms. Even though it has a low price tag, it is well constructed and operates smoothly.

Even though a lower-priced elliptical workout machine may not have as many options as a more expensive model, some are highly rated and still have many attractive features. Priced between two hundred and three hundred dollars, it features a solid frame, is adjustable and many have a limited three-year warranty. Because of high-quality construction, most elliptical machines are durable and built to withstand extreme workouts.

Attributes of Economical Elliptical Workout Machines

Because home fitness equipment varies in quality and availability of options, consumers sometimes have difficulty choosing the right elliptical machine that fits their needs. While upper-end products offer them a wide range of features meant to increase the efficiency of the machine, they also add to the initial cost. Economical elliptical machines provide many of the same features that are much less costly but just as effective.

  • They provide both upper and lower body workouts.
  • A good quality, economical elliptical features a heart rate monitor.
  • Five different resistance levels are available.
  • These machines operate quietly and efficiently.
  • They have a warranty that covers parts and labor for at least three years.

The health and fitness industry recognizes and acknowledges that elliptical exercise machines provide quality workouts for consumers at the gym and at home. They are safe for all ages and allow the user to be in control of a personal exercise regime.

The most economical elliptical workout machines reward users with improved fitness levels and a healthier heart by providing a complete daily exercise routine. Home gyms allow the fitness-conscious individual to stay fit and healthy without paying membership fees for a gym. Improved cardiovascular functions and overall health benefits associated with using an elliptical workout machine makes purchasing one at any cost worthwhile. The initial investment will provide years of health and fitness.

Best Home Fitness Equipment

Best Home Fitness Equipment

Although you may have heard all the raving reviews about a new home fitness machine, your experience could be completely different. Each person has a unique perspective, the best home fitness equipment is not necessarily what the majority selects. As you use different machines at the gym, or contemplate shopping for home fitness equipment, you need to decide on the best machine for you. When you are passionate about a product, you’ll use it consistently.

Physical Versatility In Best Home Fitness Equipment

If your car only drove at one set speed limit, it wouldn’t be that useful. The same idea applies to the best home fitness equipment. Each machine needs physical versatility to allow you to improve your fitness level and stay interested. For example, a treadmill should have several inclination settings, simulating uphill jogging, running or walking. An elliptical machine may not incline, but it can have resistance in the arms and legs for a more intense workout each session. These features make a machine move with your body and needs.

Best Home Fitness Equipment With Computer Control

Computers have provided even more versatility for the standard exercise machine. When you hop on a treadmill, you can choose a random running course, providing you with hills and declines. The workout isn’t boring and it forces your body to adapt to different experiences. As a result, your cardiovascular system and muscles gain strength and endurance. You can even test yourself with a steady incline, such as a long-distance mountain run or biking experience. Your legs pump harder than normal, improving your physique. Workout equipment that combines advanced computer programming into the workout creates real-life situations.

Body Monitoring

Look for the best equipment that offers real-time body monitoring. From heart rate to miles ran, you can have a true account of each workout. Each person has a different target heart rate for optimal fitness and weight loss. If you can keep your heart rate within the target range for an extended period, you truly get the most out of your workout. You can also note if you are pushing too hard or not enough. Acting as a personal trainer, body monitoring keeps you safe and motivated.

Comfort Is Key

Although comfort is subjective, the best fitness machines offer specific amenities to keep you on the equipment longer. For example, strategic cup holders give you a place for your water bottle and cell phone. There can also be an input port for your MP3 player. You can use the equipment’s integrated speakers to play your music for increased workout enjoyment. Even a rack for your workout towel is helpful, allowing you to wipe the sweat away easily as you run, walk or jog.

Easy Cleaning

Look for fitness equipment that has smooth body designs, rather than intricate crevices. As you workout, you’ll inevitably drip sweat on the machine. Equipment with a lot of contours is difficult to clean, especially if you workout intensely. As a result, it may not be cared for as carefully as a more sleek design. Cleaning the machine periodically encourages you to use it more often, increasing your fitness and health prospects.

Ergonomic Design

A perfect machine should hold your weight safely, along with adjustable seats, handles and pedals for ergonomic positioning. For example, you have very long legs. An exercise bike seat needs to have ample adjustable settings to adequately fit your body into the right position. Improper positioning often leads to injury. The handlebars should be ergonomic as well. Cushioning along the entire handlebar provides you with proper grip for a safe workout. Repetitive injuries from poor positioning leads to possible chronic conditions, such as back pain.

Matches Fitness Level

The best machine for you is one that matches your fitness level. If you have a chronic knee injury, for example, a treadmill is not a proper machine choice. The impact on your knees as you run is substantial. Instead, select an elliptical machine that allows the knee to bend in a more comfortable position without impact issues. As you improve your fitness, you can possibly trade-in your machine for a different one to increase endurance.

Gets You Excited

If running on a treadmill looks and feels boring to you, it will not entice you to exercise each day. It takes a concerted effort to maintain your workout motivation. The best machine for you reflects your interests. If you enjoy cross-country or track, a treadmill is a smart choice. A biking enthusiast benefits from both an elliptical or exercise bike. It is up to you to decide on the best machine.

Selecting the best exercise machine for your needs requires research and personal reflection to find the right match. Mix up your machine workout with other exercise programs, including workout videos, to enhance your experience. The more excited you are about the machine, the more often you’ll use it.

This month’s cross workout with Smooth Fitness equipment!

Tuesday, July 16th, 2013

Last month, Smooth Fitness introduced you to an intense full-body workout called cross training. This kind of home exercise can come in all shapes and sizes, but the gist of it is to challenge your body by incorporating all kinds of movements into a single workout. That means your cardio exercise is interrupted with spurts of strength training designed to burn more fat in less time. Sounds awesome, right?

It is, but it’s also going to kick your butt, especially if you’ve never attempted a cross workout before. So it’s best to ease into it! Here at Smooth Fitness, your #1 internet retailer of home fitness equipment, we’ve put together a beginner’s cross workout that will hopefully help introduce you to the wonderful world of cross training. Of course, one of the best parts is you don’t have to go to a gym to get all the benefits – this workout can be completed with the fitness equipment you already have at home.

Remember, this is a full-body workout, which means you’re going to get full-body sore. But the more you challenge all your muscle groups, the stronger they’ll become – and the more weight you’ll lose in the meantime. So gather up your Smooth fitness equipment and fitness accessories, and get ready for your first cross workout in the comfort of your own home!

  • To begin, put 30 minutes on the clock, prepare your Smooth treadmill and collect the following fitness accessories:
    • Resistance tubes
    • Pushup bars
    • Medicine ball
    • Warm up with some light stretching or walking on the treadmill.
    • Start the clock. During the first five minutes, complete as many rounds as possible of the following:
      • Five resistance tube pull-ups. Sit with your legs extended straight out in front of you, each hand grasping a handle of your resistance tube. Place the middle of the tube at the bottom of your feet, then pull both handles toward your armpits in a slow, rowing motion.
      • Ten pushup bar pushups. Complete ten pushups using your pushup bars. Using these fitness accessories will help alleviate pressure to your shoulder and wrist joints.
      • 15 medicine ball squats. Holding your medicine ball in front of your stomach, place your feet shoulder-width apart and squat down until your thighs are parallel to the ground (from the side, it should look like you are sitting in a chair). Make sure your knees do not pass the threshold of your toes, as this could cause pain and damage.
      • After the first five minutes, run on your Smooth treadmill for two and a half minutes at an mph that should qualify as about 70 percent of your maximum sprint speed. This will be tough, but it’s only a couple of minutes, so stay strong!
      • Repeat these two steps until the 30 minutes are up. You should end up with four 5-minute strength-training intervals, separated by four 2.5-minute treadmill intervals. Remember, there are no rest breaks in between, so make sure you make every second count!

We hope your first cross workout was successful. If you have any questions or concerns before or after completing your home exercise routine, don’t hesitate to contact the Smooth Fitness team for a bit of friendly advice. We look forward to helping you achieve your goals for personal health and wellness!
